Case Peanut and Edge Pro Apex......

I'd like to get feedback from those of you who have successfully used the Edgepro Apex to sharpen the Case Peanut. How best can you do it without scratching the surface of the blade? What angle do you set the stone? Do you use any cardboard cut-outs?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks

Leo

I've never sharpened that specific knife on my Apex, but I have sharpened several others that are similar. Unlike others, I've never had problems with scratches on the blades. I change the tape every few knives and wipe it down between stone changes. However, scratches don't bother me so there may be some that I'm just not noticing.

As for edge angle, just duplicate the factory angle. Use a felt tip marker to find the angle for your first stone, then adjust with the drill collar to maintain the angle.

Don't use a lot of pressure when sharpening and you won't need the cardboard cutouts. If you have the magnet, you will be able to easily keep the blade stable with the riccaso on the table. Don't hesitate to use the cardboard if that will help you, but I wouldn't.

aread,

I appreciate your feedback. Thanks. What magnet are you referencing? I currently don't have one.

CKTG has a very powerful little magnet that you glue to the underside of the table. It makes it easier to hold your knife in place. You still have to hold the knife steady while actually sharpening.

I think a few guys have used multiple magnets so that they don't even have to hold onto the knife, but I haven't tried that.

I may have to look into that magnet I don't remember seeing it on CKTG. What cardboard cutouts are you speaking of guess I missed that tip to. Are you talking about a piece just to raise the blade higher off the table?
