I use a sharpmaker which gives me very sharp edges, but I cannot prevent the tip of my knives from becoming a bit rounder and less sharp in the process.
What is the way to bring back a pointy and sharp tip?
Than you for your advices.

use an edgepro! seriously though, i find the clamp systems to be much better for maintaining or repairing tips than the sharpmaker.

Tips are commonly reshaped by grinding in from the spine (top) side of the knife.

Reshape the tip by grinding directly into the stone.

That worked great for me on a couple beaters I had rounded the tips off of when I was learning on the Sharpmaker. When using the Sharpmaker make sure you don't drag the tip across the stone when you finish your stroke. You might want to stop short of the tip and sharpen the tip as a seperate step.

Stop short when using the edges of the sharpmaker stones, thats when you're more likely to drag the tip around the edge if the stone. When using th flat sides, go 1/2 way to 2/3 of the way over the stone with the tip then stop so that you don't drag it across the edge. The better you get at it, the closer you can go to the edge of the stones with out going past and dragging the tip.
