Hi guys, My FBMLE has one small rolled/dented spot on the blade. I tried the sandpaper method with mouse pad but the rolled spot was still there & unsharpen. Any info or tip would be really appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi Idahoskunk, When you said steel or ceramic rod do you mean like butcher steel rod? If that's what you meant no I haven't I have one of those in my kitchen but I don't know at what angle should I use for Busse convex edge. Any ideas how to use it? Thanks

Your trying to push the roll back straight, so what ever angle it takes to do that.

Sometimes it's best to fix the steel, rest it on a bench or counter and move the blade over it to re-align it (bend it back)

You don't sharpen it out, you push it back into alignment, I've used all sorts of thing to accomplish that feat, chakma, file handle, the pliers on my Leatherman , then you can sharpen that area.

Hope this makes sense.

and don't cut in to the steel, you pull the edge across the steel in reverse

so that the edge is trailing

Thanks guys! I will give that a shot & hope it will do the job! I hate to have to send my FBMLE to the shop because I won't see it in 2 weeks! Thanks again!

I had the same problem recently. First try out the steels, if that doesn't work, use a file: THAT WILL WORK. It'll just rough up the edge a little so you'll need to polish it out with the sandpaper. I've found that Rubber matting 1'' works as a great backer. Even better than a mousepad.
