How to sharpen Kershaw Serrations w/Sharpmaker?

I insert the left hand rod in the 40-degree slot and the right hand rod in the 30-degree slot (rotated to use the edges of the rods rather than the flats). I hone slowly and gently to remove minimal material and try and find the serrations. I lean the blade somewhat to the right as I hone the right side to reduce the angle even more on that side. I inspect the left side to see if my honing is coming up to the edge or if it is near the base of the serration indention. If it is not at the edge I tilt the blade a little to the right while honing the left side as well as when honing the right side.

Another approach to dealing with the asymmetry of the blade grind is to put both rods in the 30-degree slots and prop up the base of the sharpmaker on the right side. You might want to do this sufficient to bring the right hand rod almost vertical.

Jeff,
Thanks for the advise.
I'm assuming you are going straight down the serration channel - correct or are you using a slicing motion?

The serrations are rounded at the edge of my knife - is that what I'm going for or should they be pointed?

Drop by your local hardware. There's a good chance they'll have some DMT items. Find a DMT rod. It folds into a blue handle. Either that or a very fine rat-tailed file. Sharpen the serrations on the cut sides, pushing the rod / file away from the blade. If you get a burr behind them, one or two strokes on the flat side of your fine ceramic Sharpmaker will remove the burr.

Just be slow and deliberate on the serrations and they will come out fine.

Thanks
I got some good results using the corner of the sharpmaker.
The serrations were not sharpened very well from Kershaw.

They are growing on me.
