Hi

First I would say hello to eveyone in this forum, since I am new here, I only posted a few time. So I am very happy to have found bladeforum and much more THE BUSSE QUALITY.

Maybe what I ask already have been spoke, but I am looking to sharpen my killa zilla.
After a few day of work with it, maybe a little abuse, blade seem to loose some sharpness and have few chip
Does INFI steel require some more care, or I can just bring it at my local sharpening knive shop ?

Thank a lot

If you have a local sharpening shop that you've used before and haven't had problems with, it will probably be fine. The problem with most sharpening services is that they use a small radius rotating grinder (not unlike a dremel) or an electric sanding belt if it's an individual maker. If the operator knows what they're doing and doesn't overheat the blade, or they have a consistent flow of coolant on the work area there shouldn't be a problem, but if they don't they can overheat the edge and destroy the temper.

The two benefits of Busse knives (particularly the TTKZ) and of INFI is that you have a thick edge (a lot of metal to act as a heat sink) and INFI has a very high temper temperature (above 900 Fahrenheit). So even though you should take care when sharpening any knife on an electric sharpener, INFI is more likely to do well with an inexperienced sharpener than other steels with lower tempering temperatures.

I have a skinny strop bat which works well. I also have a small belt sander with a 1X30 belt that works great.

A big ceramic stick or diamond rod would also work great as well.

I agree with Bigfattyt, being able to sharpen your own knives is akin to the old saying about give a man a few pints of beer and he can drink for an hour or teach a man how to brew his own beer and he can drink for a lifetime.....or something along those lines.

Thanks everyone for your opinion, I think I will definitly learn how to sharpen blade. I already did it on my buck knive with stone and it work very well

So thanks again.
