How to sharpen my Project 1

Forgive me if this has been covered ad nauseum but I am new to this board. I am the proud owner of a CRK project 1. Well, after cutting down a truck bed full of boxes, and various other random tasks to test out the new toy, the blade has gotten a bit dull. So what's the best/most fool proof (myself being the fool) way of sharpening the convex blade?

I own a Spyderco 204, and a few pocket stones. But they aren't conducive to a convex edge.

Any suggestions short of buying a bench grinder and polishing wheel? Will a leather strop like the lee valley work? Should I just reprofile the edge?

Thanks in advance.

Start with the strop: that might be all it will need.

Search for threads on sharpening convex edges. It's easy once you've read a couple of FAQs. The Bark River forum and Fallkniven forum on the other forum have some great threads.

Buy some sand paper and a mouse pad: this combination works well.

Actually Chris Reeve recommends the Sharpmaker for use on his knives. The following was taken from the CRK website.

What is the best way to keep my Chris Reeve Knife sharp?
One important thing to remember with any knife is to maintain the edge - it is better to keep it reasonably sharp rather than let it get completely dull and then try to get the edge back. To maintain an optimal cutting edge on a Chris Reeve knife, we recommend the use of the Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker or a Lansky Sharpener. If you prefer to use a stone, the angle at which to sharpen will be best achieved at 18 - 20 degrees.

We will sharpen any knife we have made free of charge. We ask only that you pay for the return shipping. Simply return the knife (in its sheath if applicable), make sure that you include your address and phone number and we will restore that famous, hair-popping sharp, Chris Reeve Knives edge.

If you want to maintain the convex edge the sharpmaker isn't going to do it. Why reprofile the edge if you can learn a cool/useful new skill.

Thanks, I found some online instructions. Any suggestions on where to find the fine grit wet dry sandpaper? 600 grit or finer? I checked the local Lowes, Home Depot and Wally world to no avail. Suggestions?

Thanks,

try automotive stores... fine sandpaper is commonly used in prepping cars for automotive paint
