Hello , I've had my Rajah since December and now it's starting to dull , I am awful at sharpening recurved blades. I thought since my sharpening ability has improved that I would be able to sharpen it easier but that's not the case.
As for sharpening stones all I have is a basic flat stone from a Highway 3 hardware and a smiths field diamond sharpener (Doubled sided and fits inside handle as a case.)
I tried sharpening like I normally would to no avail. I also used the corner of the diamond stone because I seen a video on it and still can't sharpen it. I'm not really sure what to do here , maybe some of you guys can teach me something , I'd greatly appreciate it!

On an added note I do have scrap 60 and 150 grit sandpaper , I've seen where people use that.

Spyderco Sharpmaker, or Lansky Turnbox.

Rod type sharpeners are the easiest way to put an edge on a recurve blade.

If you have a steady hand you can use a ceramic knife "steel". I have one I picked up for about $12 that does the job.

If you're tight on money and can't afford a sharpening system like a sharpmaker you can always look at at just getting a plain ceramic rod. There is one on amazon being sold for $2.50 and I see them all the time at gun/knife shows for a couple dollars.

Well, much as I like Sal Glesser, you certainly don't want to buy your Sharpmaker from Spyderco, at over $100.. You can generally find them between 45-50 bucks, less if you really look.
