Just got my first Busse. The grind don't look convexed and it dont look like it is bevel ground either. What is the best way to sharpen it? I have it sharp, but it wont shave. I tried Sharpmaker and tried stropping with fine sandpaper and compound. Thanks

Due to its severe recurve you'll be best off with a ceramic stick. Few Busse's are convex any more. IIRC, the SJT was the last production knife to have a convex edge.

Getting 1 sharp must be accidental

I'm sure that the Sus Scrofa will take a ridiculously sharp edge.

With hand sharpening.. it's down to method and technique.

I'll check my one out when it gets here tomorrow and let you know. ;)

The grinds on mine weren't very even. I know I can reprofile the edge. I really didn't expect to have to do that on a 250 dollar knife.

Haven't bought one yet that I didn't reprofile. Well, I bought a ganza hellrazor that hasn't been touched, but I haven't decided if I want to make it a user yet. Busse's come with a bit too obtuse an edge for my liking. But, then again, the first thing that I do with most every knew knife is give it a good sharpening (spyderco is the only exception that I can think of).

Well... I got my Satin Sus Scrofa today and , like all my other Busse knives, the edge bevels are convex (i.e they were ground on a slack belt rather than on a platen for a straight sided "V")

My one was very sharp with the factory edge and I have found that simple stropping on leather brings the edge back.

I'll reprofile this one to a high polished convex as that is what I am used to.

Great design though... I like it a lot. :)
