How to sharpen your CR BG42

My BG42 is still razor sharp. For those who own a small or large BG42 sebenzas, what is your best advice for sharpening the blade. I've used 1000 grit sandpaper and a leather strop on my other blades and I normally use a spyderco sharpmaker for my kitchen knives. I want to keep the blade factory sharp. Thanks.

Stick with the strop or the ultra fine stones on the sharpmaker. Don't get a edgepro and test it with that knife, check the posting "horribly disfigured sebenza" in this forum section...

I just saw the site. I really appreciate the pointer on using the ultra fine stones. After 24 hrs, I thought the question was forgotten.

Sorry Davor, but it's been a busy couple of days. There is a good thread here from a couple of years ago that gives a very good description of a technique I've found works well with the Sebenza blade profile. It's based on the Spyderco Sharpmaker, but you could translate that to other media I assume. Let me search for a few minutes...

Edit....Here it is. The post is from "OldDude1" about half way down the page - Post #18.

Edgepro - You can achieve one of the sharpest, most uniform edges.

Sandpaper and leather strop. - Keep at the factory angle and you will be simply maintaining from day one.

Diamond stones/benchstones - they work well if you have the skills.

Sharpmaker - I don't know anyone that can't pick up the system quickly with good results.

Belt sander / leather belt w/compounds - the sharpest I can do. Great results if you have the skills. Chance of hitting the thumbstud with a slack belt though.

Just some thoughts

Kevin

I remember that post, and a few others by OldDude, it is sound advice. I noticed he hasn't been around for some time, I hope he is OK.
