how to sharpen

my SOG seal pup? I read somewhere that the plain edge portion is a convex grind. Is this true? If so, how to I maintain that edge - I normally use a sharpmaker.

if its convex you pretty much have to sharpen it freehand. I usuly use sand paper on a old mousepad to do convex edges.

The Seal Pup has a convex edge? That's news to me! No mention of that on SOG's site, so I don't think I believe it. Does the edge feel convex?

Anyway, since I don't believe it's convex, just sharpen it as you would any other knife on your sharpmaker

If the edge is convex, you might want to get in touch with BuzzBait. I remember a thread where he talked about first trying to strop the edge. But get it, and other ideas, directly from him. I do not remember the specifics of the thread, and I know he has answered sharpening questions in the past.
