put some 2000 grit on a wood block, then hit the edges with flitz polish. worked good best i can tell except when blades cut the sandpaper.

is this a good idea? just trying to touch up edges. seemed to work ok and still shaving sharp. did 4 other knives as well.

just asking if this is a descent method to keeping them sharp?

are you pushing the blade forward through the paper?

sharpen spine-first when using sandpaper )dragging the edge behind as you slide it over, that way you dont have to worry about cutting the paper. use light pressure as well

i was holding the blade in one hand and block in other. moving block and as i rounded the edge of the knife it was catching the paper.

i have never really tried sharpening, always depended on someone who knew what they were doing. now i just figure i wont learn unless i try.

you need to have the block stationary and like pvt.snowballz said, push the blade spine first dragging the edge across the paper. i lift the handle to follow the belly while pushing the blade away from me while maintaining the correct angle. do the same thing for both sides. use wetordry sandpaper on glasss for best results.

richard J..

I'm still dumbfounded with your edges, cutting the newspaper just blows my mind..

I've tried believe me.. maybe someday:D

Knives Ship Free has some great sandpaper sharpening vids on their site, check it out! :D

thelastdaze, a lot of guys cant believe how well the wheels work or k II when they check it out. k II which is the knife cutting the free hanging newspaper has a 400 grit finish and can still cut free hanging newspaper even aftter chopping hard elm. you dont need an edge you can see yourself in, just one done properly since its the very edge doing the cutting.
