How to spot a Spyderco Factory second?

Huh.. Never knew that either. Now I'm gonna have to run through all my Spydies and check for that notch, haha.

Thanks for sharing that info!

And you have to look closer every year, as the notch is getting less noticeable. I've seen a lot of seconds where that little notch is the only blemish I could find. No idea what made them seconds to begin with.

good info. but watched the video without sound, that hand is moving all over like swatting flies.

Nick mentions there that you cannot send seconds in for service. I was under the impression that Spyderco would service any of their knives, just at a cost. Can anyone else clear that up? I'd just hate for a newbie to have a problem, then toss an otherwise salvageable blade because they had the wrong information.

Good for the new guys to learn this.

I had a Yo2 2nd that was just about perfect in every way, save for a slightly off center blade.

And I do mean slightly.

I learned this information a few years ago...unfortunately, AFTER I unknowingly purchased a second :(
Luckily, I the reason for it being a second wasn't obvious to me (read: I have no idea), and I don't plan on selling the knife; so it doesn't matter, other than the burning knowledge that I overpaid.
