I just bought 2 sick knives...paid alot for them...a rare busse hogfsh and a rare scrapyard Dog father. I want to keep these pristine so whats the best way to store them....also whats the best blade protectant? blue lube? tufcloth?

I use Eagle One Nano Wheel Polish on my outdoor knives. Holds the rust at bay with no issues. If you're never going to use them, any quality wax is fine.

I don't store my knives long term, but if I did I'd keep them out of the sheath and not rest them on metal or on anything that would absorb moisture. A varnished wood display stand is something I'd probably use.

A little mineral oil prevents rust.
It is also food safe, so you can eat the watermelon you just killed without doubt :)

Agree with the mineral oil for knives that will come into contact with food. If they're just going to be wall-hangers/safe queens, Renaissance Wax is what most museums use.

A Busse Knife should be stored buried deep in the chest of the dragon that it last was used to slay...

But Ren wax works good, too.

I can sort of understand putting up a "rare" Busse if you paid collector prices, but the DogFather is not a rare piece, and even the LE was under $200.

If they are coated, you could rub some wax or protectant on the exposed edge. If they are Satin Finished or in the case of the SH, Double Cut- you might want to periodically wipe it down with a Tuf Cloth.

This Dog Father was only for Knife Show Displays and has never been sold to the public....But im mostly worried about the Busse HOGFSH. I

Thats the Dog Father. Well, I paid a bit much for it, yes, but its still a sick knife...maybe not incredibly rare, but my busse is a black coated, magnum grips, like .312' inch blade. I paid a bit much for that one but dont care...that one is a beast and plain gorgeous!!

For the Ren wax, does it go on the busse handles (micarta, I believe) as well, or just the blade?

and does tufcloth affect the coating on blades (black and gray coating on my knives)?

I agree. Its worth is whatever you feel it is worth. They also make great users.

Tufcloth won't do anything to the coating.

you would not have to apply any protection to anything but the exposed metal. You could use renwax on micarta, but it is not necessary.

put a little oil on the exposed metal. It will outlive you easily. You might enjoy the knife even more if you use it.

Best way to store them? You send them both to me so I can store them in my secret underground bunker. This service will cost $100 for lifetime storage. :D
