How to tell if there is corrosion under black coated blades.

How does one tell when there is corrosion on or in black or any colour dlc
Coated Blades I don’t think I have this problem yet but it’s just something I’ve been wandering about. Thank you.

I imagine you could feel it. Rust takes up more room (space/volume) than the original metal it once was.

Ah nice point! So it would be quite hard to see corrosion on a black coated blade by sight you think?

My brother had a dark earth coated knife he used for diving and the only corrosion I could see was on the very edge none on the dark earth colour to the naked eye I think it was S35vn Steel.

You can see and feel rust under coating. It bubbles up.

If fairly well developed, the rust might cause some "bubbling" of the coated surface. Otherwise, you are better off feeling for it if it exists.

Yes ! Serious , aggressive rust will cause an uneven surface and eventually become flakey . It's fairly obvious . Very light rust might be hidden but doesn't cause much damage .
