Hi guys, I'm looking at getting my first Busse a TGLB and I have my eyes on one, however the fellow I would be purchasing this from doesn't know what steel was use to make his knife. Is there any way to tell the difference and does the TGLB even come in SR-101? Thanks in advance.

If it says battle grade than its sr101.

Yeah... this one was easy... just wait until we start having to assist with sorting out the strippers sans logo via pics. :rolleyes:

I think I remember hearing that the holes are a different size in order to differentiate between battle and combat grade.

That's what she said.

The battle grade don't have nuclear meltdown treatment right Tim

Not Tim, but yes that is correct.

Battle Grade;
Also they are not the same toward the tip (makes a diff on the sheaths)
The Guards are actually larger
The fuller is different as well

I also think it will take cold blue.

INFI is hit or miss on cold blue, I have blued a Busse but I have heard others say it is hard, I think it has something to do with the grain structure because the blade blued bot not the spine, really weird. and it took me 8 applications to get it dark.

Would be good to have a side by side comparison and "differences to look for" stickies in regards to the Battle grade vs INFI version.
Would the different talon hole/etc apply to all the knives?
Just curious,, down the road I'm sure we're going to be seeing a lot of strippers for sale without any identification

Take the knife in question and use it to chop through some 1/2 in rebar.

If the edge developes minor chipping it is SR 101.
If the edge developes a little roll, it is Infi.

Alternately, mop your sweaty brow with the knife and leave it overnight. If it has a couple of rust spots on the exposed metal, it is sr 101. Infi knife will stay clean
