how to tell the rarity of various model 110's

I have been picking up buck 110's for some time now. About two days ago discovered there are various models of the 110. I was reding and someone said they had a "4 dot" 110 and it had extra value or other models.

I looked through mine and found one marked "..110.." Is this what they were talking about? How much extra value does it have? I have several other models, how does one tell which ones are rarer and worth more? Is there a book, web site listing desirability or value? I found the sticky posts about figuring out year, but how does that translate into rarity or collectability?

thanks,

johnny

Look at the sticky's in this forum. It has a date code sheet. You can date all your 110's from it. Good luck.

Johnny,
There is a sticky at the top of this forum that shows how to date your 110's.
you cannot ask values with out a paid membership.
This is your first post . Please read the forum rules it will make your experience here
much more enjoyable.

Johnny, Welcome. They are pointing you in a good direction to start reading and research.
Yes, that is a 4 dot. I doubt there is extra value with it. In collecting, the box and paperwork add value with the knife in new condition. DM

Welcome to the Buck Forum!

Maybe you heard four pin instead of four dot? The four handle pins and one rocker pin 110's and 112's from about 1976 are more rare and usually seem to have more value.

A four dot 110 from about 1981 through about 1985 certainly doesn't have more value than a 3 pin or a two pin.

Look at the thread for this week's Sunday Picture Show and scroll down to post #4 and you will see a 112 four pin knife to show you what I'm talking about.

Bernard Levines knife guides are pretty good. Like DM said once you add a box and paperwork, original sheath etc the value goes up. As a 110 collector I can tell you this first hand.

Make sure to check the buck sales threads, it seems like a good way to see what guys are selling them for.

Collecting 110's is like no other knife. there are millions yet many different variations :)
