Good afternoon,

I've only made a few sheaths and learned a lot from this forum, thanks. One I made for an EDC has loosened up after use. Is there any way to tighten it up.

Thanks

Hi Anthony,

I hope you can see from the pictures I placed a wedge at the top of the sheath. In hind sight I should have left it out. This was my second sheath. I'm hoping there might be some way to tighten it up without taking it apart.

Thanks

Bill

Honestly, I'd take it down. I know it's a pain, but it's not that bad really. I'm not a big fan of wedges unless they are really necessary, which isn't often imho.

Btw, you've got quite the pedigree. I watch your posts over in ST. No pressure. :) I do enjoy your families legacy though.

Nice looking work there.

Anthony,

Thanks for your advice and compliments. I figured I would have to take the wedge out but thought there might be another way.

Regards

Bill

Bill, Number one fix, take it apart remove the wedge, restitch and refinish the edge. (Preferred fix)

Number two fix. Just inside the stitch line at the mouth of the sheath, punch a hole and insert a chicago screw just about on the center line of the stitching. When adjusted tightly enough this will squeeze the mouth of the sheath only very lightly and will give the effect of tightening on the knife.

I have done both fixes successfully in the past.
