How to Tighten Necker Kydex Sheath for Better Retention?

Just got a Bark River Necker 2 - nice knife, but the knife retention by the sheath is not what I'd like, especially since I carry inverted when hiking/backpacking on my shoulder strap. A jump down from a high enough rock/log can dislodge the knife. Can the kydex sheath be heated by blow dryer or over and softened to bend tighter around the top of the handle/scales?

Just a thought ..... I have the BR Bravo 1 Necker, and with just the bare knife alone it was kinda loose in the sheath. But I found out that was because the sheath was made to also accommodate a fire steel and handle scales, so by either inserting the steel and/or attaching the scales will cause the knife to to then fit snug and tight in its sheath.

I use both fire steel and handle scales and it is now a nice tight solid fit.

....The fire steels are pretty cheep too, by the way. :)

You can use a heat gun and heat it up very carefully, then press it down around the blade. Make sure you apply most of the pressure around the spine, because that's where the sheath is supposed to hold the knife, the edge shouldn't touch anything while sheathed. Make sure you wear gloves, as Kydex will begin to be floppy at 120-130°C.

take care
