How to void your BM warranty or How to disassemble a BM 730 Ares with Axis lock.

Here ya have your typical BM 730 Ares.

First remove the pocket clip.

Next the pivot screw and scale screws.

Remove the other scale, the pivot pin and slide out the blade and spacers.

Remove the Omega spring.

With two pliers unscrew the thumb lock and seperat the two liners.

Ta da reverse to assemble, BTW congratulations you have successfully voided your warranty.

Well done. Needs to be done periodically.

I take some fine wet/dry sandpaper, polish the washers, blade hole area and
sleeves, add some lithium grease around the omega spring pockets and the
knife will be nice and smooth like new. This will work on most axis lock knives.

Actually, Benchmade is pretty forgiving about the warranty if you are careful
and don't damage the knife parts during the process..

Why? There is no need to disassemble this far for cleaning and lubrication.
 
Saw another thread about this knife so I thought I'd bump it up for those who have never seen one apart before...
 
finally took apart my 950 rift last night....imho the pm2 was harder to put back together....stupid lanyard tube thingy
 
Sweet. Thanks for doing this as I was wondering what the scales look like off the knife.

Also, now I get why they're called omega springs! I thought that that was a rather dorkey name up until right now. :)
