it has been raining all day here in ann arbor, MI.
i recently purchased a fairly nice jacket-- one that so far i have enjoyed very much. it's lightweight, fairly warm, and rugged. it has cordura or cordura-like material on the outside and cotton on the inside. problem is, it absorbs a lot more water than i'd like (and i'd like none at all).
anyone have any suggestions on how i might chemically treat this material? i know it can be done, because i once owned a pair of pants made by JT (paintball company) that was chemically treated to be very water resistant. the material was stiff and lightly abrasive, but worked very well.
in the past i've tried using spray-on water repellants, such as 3M scotchgard (you can buy it at walmart in the automotive section for car seats). the stuff worked fairly well but wore off quickly and smelled like... chemicals. so no-go on that stuff...
