any info on how a katana goes together???? on the net.

I have done a search and though there is a lot of info on japanese swords, I have not hit on one with this specific info. I have learned that it is held together by one pin, and I can see that pin but am timid to start yanking on the thing. Does it require a lot of force to remove that pin??

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Someone with true knowledge will answer that. Careful if thinking about cleaning it. Don't know if you found this site, its hard not to.

Pay special attention to JAPANESE SWORD HISTORY AND CARE & JAPANESE SWORD ARTICLES so as not to damage it. DO NOT clean the tang under the handle parts.

thanks for that link. I will add that to my favorites, lots of great info. THANK YOU cjg

Most Japanese swords are held together by a single pin, or meguki, that fits through a hole (meguki-ana) in the tang (nagako) of the sword. This meguki is tapered so that one side will be slightly wider than the other. Identify the narrower side and tap it with a hammer until it comes out. You can buy specialized jammers for this, and you should so as not to risk damaging your sword.
