How tough is it to fix a bail?

Not sure if this is the right section to post this or not, but i was wondering how tough it is to fix the bail on an older slippy? Thanks is advance.

You could peen it down with a hammer or tighten it down in a vice but if its not in danger of falling off i would just leave it . I just got a barlow with a bail thats way to tight but i think over time it will loosen up . If you do either just go slow so you dont make it worse by bending the pin cause then you will have to replace the whole pin .
 
...and squeezing it in a vise will certainly bend the pin.
 
that pic isnt my knife, i didnt have time to post a pic of mine so i grabbed a similar one off the bay. I think ill just learn to live with it :(
 
The pin is easily shortened and re peened, but how did it get like this? Pins don't grow.
 
What Bill said. You could file down the rivet (mask everything around it with tape) and gently peen it again. But unless you think it's a replacement, I would leave it alone.
