How tough is Medford's PVD blade coating?

Is this just a TiNi coating applied via a certain process?

Or is it something tougher and more durable like Spydetco's DLC?

I can only speak to my Arktika but so far the 'PVD' coating has held up remarkably well. I've cut through wood, plastic, zip ties, cardboard, various cloth materials and aluminum with almost no noticeable wear on the blade coating. The aluminum left scratches but unlike the black oxide coating Strider uses, the scratches buffed right out for the most part.

The only coated blade I've used extensively in recent years is my Yo2 S90V DLC. And after cutting through numerous materials , there is no sign of wear whatsoever. Remarkable stuff. I was just curious about Medford's coating in comparison.

I had a BM years ago with a black TiNi coated blade and that stuff began to come off and showed scratches almost immediately. Very disappointing.

I think it is TiNi, my Medford coating came off after only a couple of uses. I was really disappointed :(
