I have read about the Zero Tolerance blades on badmojo. Were the edges on the knives meant to be "users", or are they primarily a collectors item. I'm curious to hear your opinions on this especialy those who own one.

Thanks

Gary

I understand that they make excellent users, I have not subjected mine to any use, but I know there are guys out here that have.

Even though there are many safequeen Busses out there, I don't believe that any were born that way.

Xactly... Jerry makes users and we make'em safe queens

Oh, they are vicious users. I have a zero edge on my AD, ZTSJ, and ZTNO. Strong, sharp, and used many times by my hand. Go for it! Yum!

Cheers,
BJB :D

i use one on a ztno and sj a lot, it is an awesome edge and i wished all my knives had that edge.

I use my ZTNO quite a bit in the kitchen. Took the tip of my finger off the first time. LOL That zero edge is something else.

The NO (to me) seems to be the best of the ZT series. It's just that size, that thickness, whatever, makes for an outstanding blade. Very lively, very sharp.

I got one of the 'extra purty' ones from Skunk. Even came wrapped in tissue paper to protect the satin finish. Now, it resides in the knife drawer in the kitchen and my wife uses it like a $2 hooker (She thinks it only cost $50). Not quite as purty as it was, but boy, does it work!

Rather than being a collectors item, I seem to recall these being made because of someone elses screwup and sold at a discount specifically as exceedingly sharp using knives :footinmou

Following is the text of the letter sent with factory-purchased Zero Tolerance knives. It leaves no doubt that these were intended to be high performance user knives. The letter also discusses cosmetics, but it is possible to find some very nice ZT knives. Strange how a "performance user" series has turned highly collectible.

"Congratulations on your purchase of one or more of the Busse Combat Zero Tolerance series knives. These knives are unique and rare in so far as there were only 400 of each model (ZTBM, ZTSH, ZTNO) and only 100 of the Zero Tolerance Satin Jacks made.

The Zero Tolerance series is a Limited Run and not a Limited Edition. Our Limited Edition knives stress final fit and finish as well as incorporate extra performance features. Our Limited Run knives, such as the Zero Tolerance series, incorporate all of the tricked out performance features of our much more expensive Limited Edition knives while at the same time focus less on the cosmetics or final finish. Some of these performance features, suich as zero edge geometry and satin finish, allow for much less frictional resistance when cutting or chopping. The Limited Run knives offer an incredible value by being priced hundreds of dollars less than comparable Limited Editions.

You may note some small cosmetic flaws, such as visible grind marks and other errant marks in the steel along with some possible discoloration. None of these characteristics will affect the performance of your knife and therefore should be expected. Many more hours of hand finishing will remove these cosmetic character marks, but will also force the price much, much higher.

The Zero Tolerance series is about performance and value. Many who tried to purchase these knives were too late and missed their opportunity. Congratulations on your purchase and may you enjoy using your new Zero Tolerance Limited Run Busse Combat Knife."

Use them you won't be disappointed.

I had a ZT SH that was a user, I sold it and now I wish I hadn't.

Loving every minute of it, I'm sure, like every Busse was born to. Excellent strategy, by the way. "Honey, they're only $50. Should I get 2?" no regrets

Eyes fixed on the northern horizon. All I see is black storm clouds. Could there be steelhearts beyond

ZT's users? My main large carry knife is a slightly modified SH ZT, and I use an NO ZT in the kitchen all the time. These buggers stay sharp a good long time and they resharpen very easily on a loaded strop. When I head into the woods up here in Alaska I usually grab the NO or SH ZT. The NO is a great all arounder. Yeah, I know they lose value if you use them, but what the heck, I don't plan to sell them and they work great. :) Now I also have a BM ZT, and that ones stays put away. It is now dressed in a nice Dwayne Puckett leather jacket to keep it warm in the winter.
