How useful is the Bow Legged Joe?

So, I'm in the market for a small fixed blade for opening mail, peeling an apple, and not scaring people at work or in town. I'm intrigued by the BLJ, but am concerned how it would feel in the hand and how useful it would actually be. I've owned a Boker Gnome in the past, but the handle on it was just way too small to be functional for me (and I don't have big hands).

The BLJ looks to be a bit larger and likely more functional, but I'd like to hear from some owners out there how they feel about their BLJ. I've also been considering a Sgian Dubh since I'm a fan of guardless blades. Should also say that I've owned a runt in the past and want to try something new.

I may not be able to respond right away to any questions since I'm half way around the world in an area with spotty internet coverage right now, but will check back next chance I get.

Cheers,
Jeremy

I think they are very useful, especially if you put a small lanyard on it and really work the lanyard knot to get it where your pinky finger has a wedge grip between the handle and the knot.

The BLJ is a great utility knife and I often carry mine for EDU. Unique standout design that is also a good user. I don't think it is ideal as a fruit peeler or slicer in general, but the shape is very utilitarian and I've never seen eyes widen when pulling it out in public. There are several great options in this small knife category with the Pygmy being the latest and greatest I want to try out.

I will echo that the BLJ is especially useful as a everyday utility blade. Perfect for opening boxes or packages.

Like swo said, if you put a lanyard on it, it will become a 4-finger knife(atleast in my case)

Thanks for the comments and pictures everyone. They are much appreciated. It looks like the BLJ would probably work well for my intended purpose, so now I just need to find one in a configuration I like! The Pygmy also looks intriguing though ... something to think about.
