Curious about your actual experience. Not just the "party line" or whatever. What have YOU seen. What have you done and had it NOT discolor or whatever? Take it to the Marianas Trench? Drop ship it with the last Venus space probe? Help!

Bottom line: How "stainless" is it really, in your experience?

Thanks to any and all replies.

Not sure about the satin but, the DCBB finish of my GW has held up real well. It's been used for everything from carving sticks to cutting paper to opening boxes.

I've used my DCBB GW to shave wood, cut steak and stir my scotch with no discoloration. It only resulted in a fat, drunk guy passed out in the middle of a pile of wood shavings.

No, but it's how I hope to spend my weekend. :D

my satin ms le got scratches cutting a steak. they polished out fairly easily though. it has never been stained.

Now thats funny.......due to the fact that I can relate!!

My satin finished Active Duty has held up quite nicely. It has some scratches. Some from the sheath but it still looks nice. It just has more character now.
I've used it a lot. For the amount of use that it's seen the thing still looks really good.

DC is an awesome finish! I have a double cut blasted Active Duty and it has seen a lot of crud, sweat, and abrasive materials and has held up very well.
It definitely takes longer to gain character marks than a coated model would:cool:

I just clean off surface oxidation with a Scotch pad soaked in Guiness. I then follow up with a Tuff Cloth;)

I have a Satin HOGFSH that was used by the po while hunting - blood did not stain it. It has some character scuffs and fine scratches, but it is still beautiful!

Hope that helps!

All that helps, guys. Thanks.

I got . . . appointed (voted? called?) to the Deacon Board at church. I thought I should get a nice knife to commemorate it. Snagged an AD. Dang I love this knife, but was unsure how much to "baby" the finish. Scratches? Feh! It's gonna get scratched. I just didnt' want it getting that 25 yr old saltwater fishing knife look.

Looks like that and my DC/black GW and I are gonna get along juuuuuust fine. :)

"Baby"??

Blasphemy..LOL

I've got a DCBB Assault Shaker. Has cut food and materials, nothing noticable on the blade.

I don't even scotchbrite it or Tuff Cloth it, and it still looks great. Peole see it at shows and have a tuff time believing it is over 5 years old and still looks that good with no preservvative (cept Fogo fat) on it.

I've got 2 satin SFNO's and used them alot. Never had any problems with rust or anything else. It only has some battle scars

Bet there's a story there.... :D
