How well does the Boker Subcom series of knives carry?

I have been carrying a slipjoint for a very long time, and it does most of the work I need a knife to do. Right now it is a Case Barlow, at a length of 3 & 3/8", give or take a smidge. I'm thinking about getting one of the Subcoms that Boker makes, removing the clip, and carrying loose in my left front pocket. Does anyone do this and if so, how does it work out? Do any of you leave the clip on and use it as a money clip? Just curious as I seem to read so many good things about these knives and now there are several varieties. I'm thinking about the Wharcom with the warncliffe blade, or the Subclaw. Any reccomendations?

If you drop a Subcom in your pocket, with or without the clip, you will forget you've got it there. This is a short, thin, flat knife and it disappears.

I don't use money clips.

The Subcom series are one of the most popular knives out there. I have the subclaw and love it, it never leaves my pocket, I hardly notice its in there. The biggest challenge is deciding which one to get. I chose the subclaw because most of my cutting seemed to be pull cuts. I was also impressed by the MerCops review of the subclaw as a self-defense tool. I kept the clip on mine because I felt it helped to give a better grip to the reverse of the knife and the clip lays flat, its not a problem to leave it on.

The Subcom would be less noticeable in your pocket than your Barlow. Its very thin. They look more chubby in the photos than they are. They are basacally 1 1/2 x 2 3/4 x 1/4 thick. The price is right too.

It cuts like a knife three times its size but carries like it is not there at all. I love mine but find it hard to carry so much since I sharpen it sooooo much.

Thanks for the replys fellas. Again, nothing but positive words about these knives. Guess this makes up my mind and I will be ordering one in the next two weeks. Now, to decide which one?:D:D:thumbup:

If you want it to cut through things, get the Subcom.
If you want to cut things open, get the Subclaw.
If you're not sure, get the Wharcom.

I agree these are very easy to carry -- light and thin.

Great designs, and they have the most secure grip you'll find on a knife that size.

I've got a Subcom and a Wharcom and carry them frequently. If I could have only one it would be the Wharcom.

Edited to add that the "print" they make in your pocket does not look like a knife due to the boxy shape.

Once again guys, thanks for the replies and suggestions. I went ahead and ordered a Wharcom. Won't actually get it until the end of this month, but that's alright as it will give me something to look forward too.:D

I've got a WharCom which I love, but it doesn't work as well as I had hoped to open letters (paper gets hung on thumbstud). Great for cutting along a straight edge. Disappears in the pocket.

Same here, I love the knife but it requires frequent sharpening. Thankfully it is very easy to sharpen. These are great little knives and the fact they are so cheap makes them a no brainer purchase.

I was refering to the fact that I use it so much at home. Not that the steel doesn't hold an edge. Although there are always knives that will hold an edge longer....

Congrats on getting the Wharcom. I have all three and I feel this one is the best of the bunch. The subcoms in general are great for the fifth pocket in jeans.
