How well does vinegar and peroxide work for etching damascus compared to ferric acid

Sorry if this has been asked before. I do have and use ferric acid I’ve made to etch Damascus steel knives I’ve made. My question I posted is because if a person that has had and used one of my knives to the point the Damascus is dull wants it to look really good again without making the more/harsher ferric acid. Is the vinegar/peroxide a decent alternative? Is it still bad Mojo?. I’ve heard of the strong coffee etch but I don’t know if it’s really as effective . I read yes/no. What you say o wise ones appreciate any replies.

He should use 5% distilled white vinegar. Most folks dilute the vinegar 50/50 with clean water. Adding peroxide in a 50/50 mix to the diluted vinegar can make it more active. The solution should be warmed to around 120-130°F

Wash and clean the blade surgically clean and do not touch the surface after cleaning.
Etch for a few minutes, rinse off, etch more, etc. until etched sufficiently. Etch a tad more than desired, as the final buff will reduce the effect.
After etching, wash well and then neutralize in baking soda water.
Dry completely and lightly buff/polish the high surface with 1000-2000 grit paper and a hard backer.
