How would I go about making a knife handle like this one?

I'm curious to know about the handle on the first one and the 10th photo down, the checkered like one. Let me know guys, cheers!

I've never made a knife in my life but If I were to guess he cut out all of those diamond shapes from different woods and the glued them all together into a squared off block then sanded it with a belt sander into the round handle shape.
That much might already be obvious to you tho.

The first knife the maker cut pieces of each wood out into strips and then glued them together. After it dried he cut them into scales. Not as hard to do as the diamond pattern. The diamond pattern can be done but with great patience and a good band saw.

The diamond pattern starts off as the striped pattern. Then you slice the block into strips the width of the stripes. You re-laminate the strips so the layers alternate. The rest is just making a knife handle from it.

You don't cut out a lot of separate diamonds and glue them up. Any woodworker can show you how to do this pattern.
