How would I go about making an extended bk11 handle out of wood ?? If there is a thread about this I can't find it..

Thanks

I made a spacer the same thickness as the steel that snugged up against the back of the handle, then sandwiched it in matching scales.

Trade it for a BK-14.
Seriously.

You're gonna have a tough time keeping the bottle opener and extending the handle, because that naturally means you're covering up the bottle opener with your extended scales. The only real option you have if you want both is to grind down the guard area and extend the handle up towards the blade. That will gain you maybe a third to a half an inch, depending on how much you take off, which might be enough for a full hand grip if you don't have mitts like Dubz. Of course, the BK11 is probably a 1 or 2 finger knife for Dubz, so...

OR. You could cut the handle half way somewhere and have extra material welded in. Same thickness, same width, same composition. You'll need to machine the extra material at some point to make it assimilate more smoothly. The handles aren't HT'd if I recall correctly but you'll still need to be careful with heat sinking. If you were to go this route I would suggest TIG welding. The amount of work required to do this would be however, in my opinion, completely pointless when you could shape a 16s blade to approximately the same size and have a near perfect handle for way cheaper. Bottle opener? There's one at the end if a 16. You've just got to shape it..

Tactical bottle opener and a bk14. My bottle opener isn't tactical but I got it at lowes and its basically a steel credit card that fits in my wallet. Always have a bottle opener and don't need to rely on the knife.
