There is lot of ways on how to open your folding knives. But how you close your lockback knives with one hand? Please show me your way... Cheers.

I hold it blade edge down, with my thumb on the lock and my index finger in the spydie hole. Press with thumb, swing blade down with index, roll knife on back, remove fingerts from blade path, and continue closing using my thumb. Sounds more complicated than it actually is. Takes all of about 2 seconds when actually doing it.

I hold the knife blade down, thumb on the lock. Some knives (Chinook II etc) the blade drops on it's own till the point is down. Lighter blades (D4 etc) require a little "shake" to start the blade. After that it follows the same path. Knives that swing free easily may come to rest on the index finger so you need to choose your hand position carefully to avoid mishaps.

Your question reflects what I like best about liner locks. I feel better closing my Mili one handed, for example.

Dodo closes one handed very nicely too.

I use that way quite often myself. Sometimes I also flip the knife over and depress the lock with my middle finger while at the same time using my thumb to push the blade out of the lock position then I flip it back over and close it with my thumb. And sometimes I close it by squeezing the handle to depress the lock and then close it with my thumb. Theres probably at least one more I'm forgetting at the moment.

The way i close Spyderco lockbacks is shift my grip back some so my thumb rests on the release with my finger in the choil (Or given a lack of one, up near the front where the kick will hit it), press the release and give it a downward jerk, then push it into the handle with my index finger after moving the other fingers out of the way. Quick, 1 handed and safe.

That's the way I do it, though I make sure my index finger is in the choil before I pop the lock, so in case the blade pops closed too fast and my fingers are in the way, the blade is safely blocked. Once the lock is disengaged, I remove my index finger and push the blade closed. Takes only a second or two.

Ditto, same here although sometimes I push the blade spine against my body to get it closed.

Where's Rock, he made a video of one handed closings a while back, can't remember where that video is now though...

Great info guys. I also sometimes use my legs as a base to close the blade. I found it's more hard in the case of big and heavy blade like Chinook II, it also tend to swing to your finger if you don't lowered the point downward.

Please see Artfully Martial's post as he describes perfectly how I close my lockbacks, and most other knives as well.

I close it with two hands.

Prefer framelocks or liner locks, but have you seen a framelock civilian yet? or a framelock endura?
