How2 match sheath to knife?

I've been looking at a new fixed-blade Buck: Buck/TOPS CSAR-T Liaison 680. Here is a web photo:

This knife has a 3" blade length, an OAL of 6.75", and the Tanto-style blade is 0.12" thick. It comes with a kydex neck sheath, and I wouldn't use neck carry. That's my search issue, finding a sheath that will fit.

But I don't know how exactly to find a black leather sheath for belt carry. I couldn't find one on the Buck web site to fit this knife style/size. How do I search for and match this knife to a correct sheath? Is there a good (efficient) way to do that? There are a large number of sheaths out there! Appreciate any pointers.

It's not going to be easy. With no handle, retention is going to be tough (IMHO) when looking at stock sheaths. If you want leather, you'll probably have to have something made specifically for that knife.

Makael (on this forum) is pretty good. Here are two he's made for me.

Makael,

Thanks for your post. I liked the sheaths that you made for MT_Pokt. How best to chat with you about a belt-carry sheath for the Buck 680? Style, color, cost, and so on?

~~~MT_Pokt, appreciate the photos and connection to Makael. The photos of your leather sheaths look really cool. In fact, the black leather of your Gen5 sheath looks almost exactly like my last leather motorcycle jacket!
I have that knife for a pattern,:thumbup:
