Some may love him and some hate him, but I generally find Howard Stern entertaining on my morning drive. This morning on his show the staff was talking about thier favorite xmas gifts given by co-workers. One of the things Stern mentioned as a long time favorite was a Spyderco an underling had given him a few years ago and how he uses it every day to open mail with. One of the cast said that he must be thinking of a letter opener, but Howard said, no, he really meant a knife and then had someone go to his desk to bring it into the studio to show everyone. I wnder what model it was? Any ideas?

Howard is great...I like him even more now that I know he's a Spyderco guy...

Someone should e-mail him a link to this post and get him to join. We can make him a knife nut:D :p

Howard is great in my opinion. His movie "Private Parts" was pure genious. From my daily commute, I have gathered that Stern is pro-gun so I have no problem believing that he has an interest in quality knives as well.

For those intersted, Stern has stated on the air that he carries a .32 Seecamp, owns a revolver and "a bunch of rifles".

Listening to Stern is about as painful as watching the Zapruder film, except less exciting. Opie and Anthony were the radio guys until that unfortunate August day 2 years ago. They'll be back in a year when their contract with Infinity broadcasting runs out, and then I'll return to the radio.

I believe him to be pro on gun ownership, another plus.
Yes, he's one of a number of celebrities who have been able to get pistol carry permits in NYC. You can only carry in NYC if you are an LEO, a criminal, or a connected celeb. Nice, huh?

Been listening to Howard since he came to NYC and W...Ayyyyy...b. c.

Anybody that can keep me laughing as much as he does is a genius, Homeless Howywierd Squares, some of his bits are hysterical.

Been a Stern fan since he was at NBC (circa 1983) with Imus (ick!). Sometimes he rubs me the wrong way, some times I piss my pants listening to him cracking up and as well with all the other characters and regular "Wack pack" participents on the show. Either way, 99% of what he says is parody, comedy, devils advocacy and designed to arouse shock, contreversy and even discussion. You gotta love that atleast right ?! Lets' face it, he's funny as hell and is an open advocate of weapons and tools in the hands of law biding citizens as well as free speach and fair and equal rights for all people. If not in word in what his career stands for as metaphor. I understand those who don't dig him but it's a far greater aspiration to be able to laugh at him with the realization that he does stand for the above mentioned things even if he does break a few eggs to make an omlette. The psychological intricacies of his humor and attack are viable tools for those of stronger will and understanding. It's on par to genius even when the humor is the most juvenile. Anyway, ta, ta toothy, fla, fla, flo, hi....ma, ma monkey ! Horse tooth jackass !

PS, Needle-....the Ramones were strong Stern supporters, and let's face it...Joey and Howard could have been seperated at birth. Joey Ramone R.I.P. !

Well I'm not Joey Ramone, now am I? :p

I remember hearing a clip of the Ramones fighting on Howard stern, Marky and Joey went all out. Stern should have went to a commercial, it was a really sad moment.

Yup, I remember that one. There was a great phone call they used to play. One night real late Joey called Garry and he was F-d up if you know what I mean. It was one of the funniest phone calls ever. They played it often about 1993 or so. Man that was good, he was blitzed and was looking for Howard. Then they later talked to Joey on the air and he didn't quite remember what he wanted...LOL !

There should be no surprise about Howie's views on knives and guns. Stern is a bona fide Libertarian. According to one of his books (I think the latter one), he ran for some office under the official Libertarian ticket.
