Just wondering how the Blade Show was for sheathmakers. Knifemakers and collectors seem to have varying views of how the show went.

Well, I know John Cohea took a knife home to sheath. When I left Paul Long on Sunday he had a handfull and a bunch of orders.Myself, I delivered several sheaths and picked up 6 more including one huge piece from Alan Folts and a couple of holster orders.Don't know about Sandy and Lifter and others.Dave:)

I delivered some, sold a few out of my bag, and got orders for a few, mostly with the Case Collectors guys.....so it goes to show that the Blade runs the whole range.
It was my first Blade so I had nothing to compare it to, and while some may not agree with me, I thought it was great and had a good time.

I did indeed bring home one of J Neilson's knives to make a sheath for, and passed out almost 40 cards, most of whom were interested in sheathwork. Karen Shook even took one of my cards and said she would send folks to me, as she gets requests to do outside work, which she of course doesn't do, so I had a fantastic show. This was also my first, but not my last for sure!

I sold six or so there and delivered pre ordered sheaths in about the same amount and I carried 20 knives home after all was said and done. It will take me about two weeks to clear this much of a load.

The show was spectacular. Lots of old friends and also got to add some new faces to my forum and phone friends. It was good to connect with Rayban
(Rick Garcia) this time. I have known his brother for years here in Kerrvile.

Paul,

As always, it was great to see you and Sandy at Blade.
Thanks for helping me out!

Sure saw a lot of your beautiful work all over the floor and even took a little home. :D.

Paul,
It was great to have the oppertunity to meet you in person ! I was, and still am buzzing with excitement of meeting folks in person that have up till this point remained distant, mythical, knife and leather working masters. It was cool to see for myself that we're all just a bunch of regular folks with alot in common. Meeting you and Sandy was one of the BIG highlights of the show for me and will be a memory that will stay with me forever !

John,
I had a great time hanging out and getting to know you and drool on your work ! Can't wait to do it again next year. I've got a few ideas in mind for scrimming a couple pendants for ya but if there's anything at all that you'ld like in particular just drop me an e-mail or call and we'll work out the details. Congrats on getting that J. Neilson knife to sheath ! I know you had your fingers crossed and I can't wait to see what you come up with for it.

Again I had the pleasure of being in the company of Paul Long Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. I view my trip to the Show as play time, visitaion with friends, talking, walking, and generally admiring the craftsmanship on display. I touched base with Dave Cole, Chris Kravitts, Kenny Rowe, and Lifter. Paul introduced me to John Cohea whose work I greatly admire. At my age, I no longer actively solicit work as my days are too short to adequately allow me to chase the ladies or participate in beer tasting contests. I manage to keep busier than I care for with a customer base that is revered. I must admit that in the conversations with some of my customers attending the show, my work load will carry me through the summer. ---Sandy---

I truly did miss getting there this year. :(

But the experience I felt last year still sits with me like it was yesterday. That picture of the group of us is still something I treasure deeply and will do so for a very long tme.

Good to see things havent changed, its still the experience of a lifetime over and over again. :D
