Didn't know where else to post this so I figured general knife discussion would fit. Part time military, full time healthcare employed for now and have been collecting knives since I was old enough to buy them, as my hippy parents certainly wouldn't. My current collection has about 18 knives if you include multi tools and a few keychain knives. Hopefully I can learn somethings and make a contribution also. Pictured below is an older pic of my collection, sword on top was brought back from the South Pacific by my Grandfather, doesn't look all that great but is the genuine article and a family heirloom, absent from pic are the CRKT lightfoot I just purchased and the world's coolest groomsman gift, a SOG Seal 2000 with a kydex sheath.

Welcome to the forums.
You katana looks to have WWII era tachi fittings.
With a little work (the 1st step is taking the sword down and checking the tang) you should be able to determine if it's an older forged blade or a newer machined piece.
