Figure I should probably introduce myself since I've been lurking around here for a while, so, ''Hello all."
I've had my eye on RAT and now ESEE knives for some time. I really dig the no-nonsense style and the no-strings guarantee. However, I must admit that I was a little on the fence about whether to buy an ESEE. You see, I've owned an Ontario RTAK II for several years but it has never really floated my boat. Spent most of it's life in a drawer
But I finally bit the bullet and bought an RC-6, which arrived today.
All I can say is, "Wow!!"
This thing is awesome! The build quality is so much better than Ontario's. Plus it fits my hand like it was made for it. I even dig the paracord belt attachment. Very low profile.
As soon as I got it I went out to the back yard to make a fire drill. The knife excelled in every aspect of the process. I even chopped through a seasoned 2" Ponderosa Pine limb with it! A bit of a workout but it did it. Still shaves hair off of my arm, too!
This is exactly the knife I was looking for. I wanted a hard use knife that was small enough to perform delicate tasks well but was still large enough to pull light chopper duty, i.e. bumping knots and the like. I love my BRKTs and my Koyote Kustoms but I think that they just got bumped by ESEE.
Thank you ESEE and keep up the good work!
