Hey there! My name is Brandon, i live in Brooklyn Ny, im 19, and I'm an aspiring hobbyist knifemaker! I've always been mesmerized by certain styles of knife, and for a long time I always though "Man, it'd be cool to learn how to make that!" . I've always been handy, and have a decent set of tools at my disposal, but nothing crazy. After following fhe Tv Show "Forged In Fire" , I found the drive and inspiration to try my hand at knifemaking! I should be getting some old farrier's rasps in the mail soon. I plan on making a propane forge using The King of Random's "gas blaster" torch, and I'm on the prowl for a suitable anvil and materials! Im working late tonight, I'll try and get some pictures of my workspace up soon. Thanks for having me, I look forward to getting to know you all better! (In case youre wondering, my username comes from my nickname ™bud" in combination with my last name . It has nothing to do with what some would call "beer") :D

Sup Brandon??? I'm from Bklyn too.....Mill Basin to be exact. Where are you??
Looking forward to the pics bro!

Wow! That's AWESOME! NEVER on any forum has anyone lived so closethe only person I've ever met with was an hour away by train! And to top it you're my first post in the thread! Lol!
I live on avenue U and 27th street, a few minutes past Key Food, right across the street from Top's liqour. My brother lives in mill basin, 65th and Mayfair drive I think?

Brooklyn, NY native here as well by way of Sunset Park. Nice to meet you fellas

From Lower Manhattan, live right across the river in Jersey now. Welcome bro! Looking forward to pics of your stuff!

I'm a native NYer too! I live in Manhattan midtown east. Us city folk are a little rare around here but it is nice to see a few of us coming out of the woodwork. Brandon, I would love to see your progress. What styles of knife are your favorites?

Thank you for the kind welcome! I don't currently have any progress whatsoever in knife making, but Im eager to start. i watch Forged In Fire on History, Trollsky, Gough Custom, Igor's custom knives, GreenBeetle, and a few others. I just bought some large farrier's rasps, and am trying to get my hands on something I can use as an anvil. Im also looking fr some flat stock, stuff that just needs to be cut out and shaped. I saw the prices of steel onlone and had to change my shorts! I want one of those old giant sawmill blades....Most important thing I lack right now is a heat source, I need to build a forge of some sort. I might make a few coffee can forges and put them back-to-back for use with longer material. I would use as I plain ol' coal forge, but I can't just light one up in front of my house, and the backyard is a nogo. My favorite style I would say is a recurve bowie. Love the shape, and is very functional too! Although I did recently see a knife on this forum that looked to have the profile of a mako shark, I loved it.

I like blades that are beautiful in their simplicity. Nothing too crazy, nothing confusing to the eye, just blades that are functional enough and beautiful.
