Hi gang

Name is Bill and I live in Texas where we have some pretty good knife laws. Over three months ago I quit smoking and three months ago I started collecting knives. I started with a SOG Flash II and that's a pretty good knife. Later I ran across what I could not pass up that left me broke for the rest of the month, I found an HK (Benchmade) Turmoil OTF knife for $119.99. I was lucky because I got the last one it seems, they're out and not restocking.

Whew! That was close.

Later after looking around on knife retailers I got interested in knives made by United Cutlery and good prices from wholesalers. I took a chance and bought the minimum required $50 worth of spring assisted knives. WTH, they're pretty decent and quite well made. I don't have heavy demands on knives and they're ideal for me, just can't beat the prices. I bought more and more then started buying full tang fixed blades.

In fact I got 4 fixed blades coming in Friday. :D

I'll show y'all pics somewhere on this forum some time later.

I'm a retired mechanic and I'm disabled from pains. I guess I'm paying for the heavy lifting, twisting and turning I did on the jobs. I get injections and pain pills so I can have a fair life. I do ok so don't be feeling sorry for me.

I used to play guitar and started with The Ventures at age 10 (that's in 1960, I'm getting old) but had to quit a few years ago. I loved playing instrumentals and jamming. Burns me seeing my custom handmade guitar and piggyback tube amp collecting dust in my closet, getting old sucks. I spend most of my time on my computer (I need a life) as there's nothing else I can do. I don't like TV (commercials every 5 minutes jeez) but I like to collect DVD movies and TV shows.

I like to read non fiction whether it's books, manuals, catalogs etc. I have a shelf choke full of Uncle John's Bathroom Readers. I like crossword puzzles and some word games.

I like shooting at the range but that gets pretty expensive so it's not very often that I go. The ammo prices are just ridiculous.

I guess I'll see y'all in the threads. Laterz. :)

Welcome to Bladeforums!

I was just down in Texas, a nice place to be this time of year.

Instrumental rock like the Ventures... you might be familiar with our local home-town band, The Fireballs. They were mostly an instrumental band until they became "Jimmy Gilmer and The Fireballs." The Fireballs recorded at the same studio as Buddy Holly down in Clovis, N.M.

Bob, we were just a band during high school called The Brazen Men. As much as I love playing we weren't good enough to go pro. It was fun while it lasted and since then I was a bedroom jammer but I was invited to a few parties to play, just me and my drum machine. :)

Here's my jammin station except I don't have the Carvin DC127 anymore.
