Howling Rat Discontinued?

Does anyone out there know 1) If Swamp Rat will be discontinuing their HR model and 2) when Swamp Rat will be back in the business of taking orders again?
 
I believe the HR is gone- in its current form anyway. As for when they'll be taking orders, I've heard rumors that they'll debut the new line at Blade. You might get better answers, though, in their actual forum here under Manufacturers. Hope this helpeed.
 
The HR in its "current" or latest form has now been discontinued. I hate to see it go.

However, the new line MAY have a replacement with micarta scales. :D

Get a Res C while you can. A buddy pointed out the other day that the HR is still a good deal for all you get at the market prices you are finding today.

Yeah I think I'd prefer the Res C over Micarta for hard use. I don't have much experience with either, but that's the impression I get from the pictures.
 
Thanks guys, for all the info. One more thing....anyone have info on where I can presently buy one of the res c type Howling Rats? I'm going to check the EXCHANGE section right now.

in the for sale forums and post in "Wanted to buy section" is now where you can buy them. They are no longer for sale from the swamp itself.
 
Guess I got mine just in time! Approx. 6 month wait but worth every minute. I love it so far and am very impressed with the comfort of the Resiprene handle. Get one if you can, you won't be sorry.
 
I have a howling rat, with the res-c handle. if they are discontinued and mine fails and needs to be replaced, will they replace it with a simular model or do they have a few of the old stock in reserve?
 
The Howling Rat is definitely one cool little blade. If you find one for sale somewhere (whether that be online or at a show), buy it!!

I absolutely looooooooooooooooove mine.. :D

This is the one blade I would like to give to all my children, put in all my vehicles, every bug-out bag and gift to anyone I care for. It is the best utility knife in it's size range, in my less than humble opinion.
