I'm looking to nab my first rat, for general hiking, outdoors activity. What are the main differences I should know about? Thanks!

You'll probably get more replies on the Swamp Rat forum. That said, I think the HR makes the better skinner, as the edge drops low enough to be below your fingers. The Coot will pierce better, with its narrower profile and penetrator tip. Both are super strong, sharp knives, and will serve well in your intended use. BTW the Howler comes with cordura/kydex, and the Coot with leather, if that makes a difference to you.

Knifedaddy,
Warren has answered your questions well. It is a tough choice and stop by the Rat forums either here on BF or on the website and you'll probably get some additional advice.

Just to note we just switched to a leather sheath for the HR as well so both come with the same style of sheath also :D:D

(Warren didn't know this because I fear that he may take my job so I don't give him all the good info ;) :p )

I TRY to help out our King Rat while he is busy with the newest Isaacson, and I get conspiracy charges!

:D :D :D

So is my old Howler sheath gonna become a collectors item? :p

Seems like the Howler was the favorite for a long time, but since the limited INFIcoot came out, more and more people seem to be pulling out their Coots (INFI or not) and putting them to work. I think it's about even now.

...Oh, I'm sorry Eric--did you wanna say something? ;) :p :D :D
