You know the ones with the serrations up top? They functional? What do you owner think of that knife? I love my 2nd generation HR- fantastic blade... :thumbup:

IMO those are for looks since they are spread out so much. There are models with what I call "bussekin" type serrations where they are useable since they are closer together.

You also have to consider whether you like laying your thumb or fingers along the spine. Those are often ground near the pommel and are razor sharp. That combo does not work for my larger hands.
 
They are that sharp and that far back? Huh! I'll check on mine and see where my thumb falls on the spine when I choke up on it.

I've never found a use for serrations on the back of a blade on ANY knife. That being said, they sure do LOOK COOL!!

Really was thinking about it 'cause when I first started researching good knives/survival knives a few years ago, one of my first finds was a youtube video of a guy throwing this blade. My old school rats remain my favs and this one holds a special place for me. :thumbup:
