In the search for "the perfect one", many a Busse have come through my hands. I like the idea of carrying a Busse product because I have come to personally believe they are the best. It's not often that you can clearly place one manufacturers product above all others and at the same time be able to afford to acquire multiple versions of their product.
This particular search would be in the 4" fixed blade range. The SAR 3 incorporates all of the design requirements for "me" personally and the LE is currently my most used knife. I love the blade shape, grind and height, the very small choil so I can easily sharpen all of the blade, the jimping on the spine for my thumb, and the overall handle shape including the texture on the scales. It just needs to be a little longer to be a perfect fit for me. Make it the overall length of the CABS. keeping the handle to blade ratio of the CABS. and I think my search would be over. Now your saying, well just get a SAR4! I had one and pretty much immediately sold it. The blade is too tall, the handle to large, and is just more of a 4" knife than I want to regularly carry. The new version would be tween a 3 and 4 in the SAR design. There is not an ounce of criticism in this post, only a concept of the perfect SAR for "ol dialton".
Am I alone in this desire or would that fit some of you other Busse users and abusers?

I have always thought a SAR 3 with a 1" longer blade would be awesome.
I know there is a SAR 4 but it is different and way bigger.

A SAR 4 Light Brigade, the same dimensions as the SAR 3 but 1 longer.

I carry a Busse daily, rotation between Heavy Duty, Assault Shaker, Game Warden, and a Leaner Meaner. The Heavy Duty takes the most carry, that size just suits me best, especially when its nice and cool and I can wear an over shirt untucked. The meaner is just a tad too big for discreet carry though, and so its the Boss Street in my experience

The handle style of the SAR seres doesn't seem to scream "Knife" to a casual observer, so a Mean Street sized SAR would be nice! I have a SAR 4 but its simply massive like the BAe, is legal to carry here, but the size isnt people friendly. Sleek it down a bit and your on to something more befitting an EDC type knife. But then your so close to the ABS its almost redundant but the handle design keeps it interesting,

I'd buy 27 of those.... :D

I recently acquired a SAR 3, and while I love almost everything about it--I wish the blade was just an inch to an inch-and-a-half longer... Fantastic blade though!

Great idea!!
The SAR 3 is my most carried and used blade.

I have been looking for something as you describe. The Rodent Solution is my edc at work, but I would like something with more class to wear to barbeques and such. Right now I'm leaning towards a BAD. Hoping to find one in red black g10 at Blade.

since you wont be chopping with it you can skip the LB treatment and punch all the way through with a SLUT handle, preferably minus the hollow grind so you can get a stronger tip

The perfect tweener Busse has been around for years. It's called the Active Duty.

Everyones perfect is going to be different of course but I had AD's, Meaners, GW, and on and on. The jimping on the spine is a big part of it for me as well as the all around feel in your hand and look of the blade. AD doesn't do it for me but I'm glad your search is over. Until I find mine, the SAR3 will likely continue to see the most use.

I agree about the sar 3. I tried the AD and the cabs and sold them both. I compromised at a boss street proto with a shorter handle but I keep coming back to my 3. What would make the 3 perfect for me is a slightly longer handle and a little more blade length. But the size is great for discreet EDC and the jimping locks it into your hand.
