Hi everyone, just wanted to know how everyone was doing. I know that some of us have been sick or aflicted lately. It would be nice to hear how you are doing. Let us know how it's going even if you are okay.:)

I'll start off. First off, I want to say thanks for all the prayers and well wishes, They really helped me. Plus, thanks to Raghorn for remembering and reminding me to make this post.:)

Now for the update.I'm back at my apartment in Ephraim going to class and working. My arm is fealing quite a bit better. It's still sore and aches every once in a while but nothing like it used to. The stitches (about 40) came out last Thursday. Had the cast of for about 45 minutes while they were taking out the stitches and it felt soooo good. My next appointment is on the 25th in Provo and I should be rid of the cast for good. Physical Theripy should start soon there after. It's good to be back and not doped up on pain killers.:)

I've borred you long enough, now it's your turn guys.:)

BTW I finally got pics of the cast and stitches, for those that are interested. My sister just needs to finish up the roll of film and get the pics developed.

im relatively new to the forum, so i dont know how u hurt ur arm, but i hope and pray that everything works out for you, especialy with the therapie. been there a few times. nothing to dramatic in my life right now. im working hard so i can graduate on time next may. after 4 yrs, barracks life has taken its tool, time to find somthing new. my ladie lives in Sweden, so that does not realy help either.

thats the ongoings of my life in a nutshel.

good night.

(guess this is as good a place as any...)

Update on my situation:

My brother has still not found a job. wildmanh - funny you should mention Provo - he's started looking there as well (about 90 minutes south from his home in Syracuse). Thanks goes out to all that helped me raise the money - through purchases and contributions. He was very grateful and it meant a lot to me to help out. It's tough being 2500 miles away...I can't help but feel that if I was closer, I could be of more help. At least my folks still live nearby.

My family: we are all doing great!

Because I sent all extra funds out west, I've had to put off a lot of projects...from woodworking to fixing the motorcycle. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back to normal spending habits because I have been keeping a "nest egg" just in case this drags out longer. Isn't that what family is for?

Anyway, what that means in family life is that we've been attending a lot of "free" activities for entertainment, etc. ;) There's a surprisingly large amount of free events in the Metro DC area (and in the city as well).

The boys are both growing fine and my 2 yr son amazes me nearly every day. Kids are great. Highly recommended...:D:D

Well, that about sums it up. Thanks for letting me eat up some of this thread with my woes...somehow I feel better now.

:)

It's good to hear that you are doing better. At one time or another I have had casts on both legs from the knee down. It seems wonderful when they come off.

Us old folks in Smithville, TX are hanging in there. Just keep plugging along. I can't seem to sit around much like some of my neighbors. They all look at me like I'm a bit crazy for being out trimming trees and cutting weeds. I figure it may keep me going for a while longer, out getting the exercise. :) :D

Glad to hear you're healing up, Heber. I haven't forgotten to email you, I promise you'll get one before long.

I interviewed for my former boss' position last Friday and I've been on pins & needles ever since. I expect to hear any day now whether or not I got selected. There were 31 applicants, five of us made the "short list" and got interviewed by a selection panel. I got called back again Tuesday for "further clarification," which I take as a positive sign.

Healthwise, we're all doing well. #2 son had outpatient surgery today for a minor hernia, he'll be back to his normal ornery self tomorrow and on his feet by Sunday.

Munk should have had his nose surgery on Wednesday, hopefully we'll get some good news from him soon, too.

Yeah, I got to run around Walmart in Billings with a bloody napkin held to my face. The gauze filled immediately after leaving the hospital, applied another, and another.. ( when I got home I read the small print; "may have to reapply bandage as often as every 20 minutes.."

People give bleeding bearded men a wide girth. Even the pharmacy pushed me to the head of the line for my medications...guess what, Heber; percocets. Right after our pharmocology workshop here in HI, too!!

Surgery went well and I woke fast. Had a friend drive me home the 4 hours (nightime deer speed) . Took a couple pain pills on the way. They didn't work. In a couple hours I was starting to feel pretty bad. I even stuck my hand outside the window to freeze it and give me something else to think of.
When I got home, under the kitchen lights I saw I'd taken two antibiotics instead of the pain medicine. Well, they told me not to sign contracts as the general anesthetic doesn't wear off for 24 hours. Real sharp. Developed a fever too.

Couldn't breath through my new nose canals as once the bleeding slowed the blood clotted hard as iron, tissue swelled, and only fresh blood could seep through...onto my chin and pillow... It's no fun using your mouth as an airway but the strangest of all was the nightmares. The synthetic opiate used for surgery packed a bizarre afterburn. At one point I awoke kicking at the small animal that had leapt onto my bed to tear and maim. What else though; the combination of so little sleep these many months and these powerful chemicals.

It's going to be great to experience air coming easily into the body again.

I staggered/floated back to these pages and noticed from a sort of incomprehensible cloud that a horn handled (18"?) sirupati by Kumar actually sold here for around 60 bucks. That had to be an hallucination, no more real than that damn beast I'll have to fight again tonight.

Are you gonna post some nose pics? :D

Glad the surgury went well.

Also Wildmanh should send some pics for the safety thread. :)

I am doing darn good right now. Like Pen's brother, it hasnt been easy finding work after leaving to care for a sick father for near one year. Though I now know my distaste for the Home Depot comes with some reason. Anyways, the job front is looking better (after so many months of applying for everything under the sun I finally got a call-back), and some money has happened to flow in despite the whole situation. So hopefully, I will be done the worry of finding work soon. Im still able to see my son (one threat never realized), Im not in prison (continuation of threat), not in court again (again continuation of said threat), my mom isnt locked up and is also allowed to see my son (again continuation of threat), my one and only sibling has decided not to lock me up with my mom, etc...

On the otherhand, I officially got kicked out of school (they also did not like me taking so much time off to care for my dad), but with their attitude I figure its all for the better. But things are definitely stacking up for the better, though I hope I aint counting my chickens so to speak.

Like Bruise said, Munk and Wildmanh we need pics:D

Good to hear that you guys are healing.

I'm going to keep my mouth shut on a certain matter for up to a week if it kills me. And it probably will just about do that! But I ain't telling. I ain't, I ain't, I ain't.

I might give out hints though - no, that'd spoil it. Hee hee hee!:footinmou :footinmou :footinmou

The Dr.s drained off the loculated fluid in my right lung. They decided to leave it attached to the cavity wall. They said separating it would not be worth the risk in relation to the potenial function recovered. So I am OK. I have some discomfort in my right chest when I breathe hard or yawn or stretch or whatever. I am totally out of shape, but I am cleared to begin getting back into it. All things considered, I came out alright. Thanks for all the prayers and concern.

Glad to hear all the positive reports on folks. Heber, once you get the cast off for good keep rubbing olive oil, or my favorite, wheat germ oil, on the scar and it'll help with the healing. Pappy, you're too tough to get too much down in the mouth, but I hope your missus' health is on the up and up. Bob, I haven't started on your knife yet, too many irons in the fire, but I'll try to have it done by the end of the month.

As for me, once again I find myself facing an uncertain future. No big deal and nothing new, I'll just check my gear, pack my bags, and get my affairs in order to be ready. I know what some of you are thinking, sorry, I can't bring myself to punch out just yet. Hardheaded, yeah probably, but I never claimed to be too bright.:p ;)

VA hospital personnel didn't kill me yesterday or lock me up and said I'd probably be good for another six months. All else okay here.

Hooooooahhhhh! Way to go Raghorn! Now you need to listen to Willie Nelson's rendition of "I'm my own Grandpa".;)
