I just received my first La Griffe neck knife :D and was surprised at how long the chain is. The chains length might be the perfect size for your average Neanderthal ;) but for a medium sized person like myself it is way too long. I was thinking for a faster more tactical draw it should be right around the waist line, but this seems to get in the way as one moves about. I think the most comfortable carry position would be right around the solerplex (sp?) or sternum. Anyways, I was wondering how low most of you carry yours.

The chain is deliberately long for a reason !

You can cut it to the length you want for yourself. Each joint is individually connected on the chain, so cutting it at any length doesn't mean the chain falls to bits.

Just un-hook it at the connector, drape the chain around your neck and adjust it to the length you want and cut the loose end there. Re-join the chian and there you go ! :D

Enjot the La Griffe by the way, I wear mine every day, whatever I'm doing. Quick weekly rub down with a Tuff-Cloth, and it stays as good as new.

I never have cut the chain on my LaGriffe...the bottom of the handle is right at my belt buckle. It's not quite as comfortable as up higher, but its faster. He he he...interesting story. I taped a couple of firecrackers onto a bottle rocket over the summer, and wired the fuses together...well, it was too heavy, and it didn't go up. So, I was stupid and walked over to it. Suddenly, it went off, flying horizontally away from me. Burned my shirt, and when I looked down, there was a circle imprinted in the burn, from my LaGriffe...lol. Anyways, I carry it IWB now. Put a steel holster clip on it, and you're good to go.

Mac A:

I wear my L/G on a regular basis both on/off duty (although recently, I've been rotating a it with a Falkniven WM-1 SF). Both knives drape around the solar plexus. To ensure that the blade comes into 'battery' quickly, I've tied a tight "hangman's noose" on both knives. This allows for quick and reliable grip.

Blade man:

How did you attach the belt clip to your kydex sheath. I was thinking of making a horizontal kydex rig like Jonas did, but I would seriously consider a belt clip. Do you have any pics?

i know i'm gonna either cut myself, or lose some serious chest hair from drawing this thing :)

*hopes cumberland gets their shipment in soon*

Raye, I ran duct tape, covered by electrical tape, through the middle of the clip, in between the top and bottom. It's kinda hard to describe. I can't post pics, but wait a day or two, and I'll email them to you.

BM: Thanks, much appreciated.

2Sharp (Jonas):

Where you hiding man?!!! Post some picks of that horizontal L/G rig you made. Thanks buddy! :)

Hey Blade man,

I read your post regarding your how you carry your Emersons and was thinking how you could carry your L/G in a IWB. If you don't mind could you email me pics as well.

I knew that the chain was deliberately made long so that it could be tailored to the size of the user. The reason I posted this message was I was curious how low/high people have been wearing theirs. I actually was planning on cutting my chain so that it would hang in from my solar plex and then add a lanyard to help with deployment. Anyways, I am still curious how other suspects wear theirs.

I took a piece of paracord & made a loop just long enough to pass the empty sheath through. Make a pass w/ the cord through a belt loop, pass the empty sheath through & voila, instant IWB static cord draw. Mine sits just below pantline on my left side for reverse left-hand draw, or right-hand crossdraw. Invisible & quick. Otherwise mine sits under the sunvisor of my car. Same loop, pop the visor out as if you were to push it over to the left, slip loop over little tab & pop the visor back in. When you pull the visor down, the Griffe is right there.
