I finally met my first Forumite in person recently! I have never met someone in person that I've "spoken" to on the Internet, so that was cool...anyway, he is also a patient of mine, now. Works out nicely, huh?

In any case, this fella is making the trip up to Janesville for the show in March, and I trust when he says it is a good show, but I'd like as many opinions on it as possible. Also, is there a list of makers that will be up there? It's only a couple hours drive, and we'd only be going up for the day, so it's pretty much a low risk situation, but is there anyone else who's here who've been to the show and know what to expect?

I love the Badger Show!

Lots of folks, a good mix of custom makers, accessory types (sheath, leather, steel, equipment, supplies), and dealers. No real production companies represented.

There are enough custom makers to make this a judging show for the Blade Handmade Awards. Some examples (forgive me for leaving most everyone out...these were some that I remember from last year) are Ralph Turnbull, John Etzler, Dale Reif, John Greco, Matthew Lerch, George Werth (Damascus), Mark Nevling, Charles West, Darrel Hibben, and many others.

Try to stay overnight, as the show-and-tell dinners at Damon's are great! Book soon - rooms were scarce a couple of months ago!

Hi Chiro,
I'm going to the Badger show! I went last year and had a great time; bought my first custom there. John and Sherry Greco have told me they will be attending, and judging from last year there will be other notables. Matthew Lerch was there, and had some VERY impressive work. There is plenty to keep your fingers twitching and your wallet thin!

Humorous note: my 3 year-old daughter came with me and enjoyed the show as well. She saw a maker, deep in conversation with some customers, with a big jar of candy on his table. She said "Daddy, I am going to wait until he is done talking and then ask for some candy." Then she marched right up to the table and (quietly) stared with her big blue eyes at the maker until he figured out what she wanted and stopped talking to give her some! She will be coming with me this year too.
