How's the wait for a Rat Trap?

I hear about lots of long waits for their fixed blades, but is it the same for their Rat Trap? Anyone actually have to wait 8-12 weeks for theirs? If the wait is really that long, I may just have to move along to an Al Mar SERE 2000 (next in line on my wish list ). Any personal experience ordering these would be much appreciated.

From what I understand the Rat Trap ships rather quickly compared to the rest of the line. I would expect to wait at least a month. That's pretty good for a swamp knife. It all depends on when you get your order in, they produce knives in batches. Who knows maybe they have a few sitting around from the last batch made, or they are scraping together orders for a new batch. Either way I would definetly go for the Rat Trap, anything from the swamp is tough as coffin nails

As a side question, anyone know what kind of washers are in it or if it comes with some sort of pouch to store it in?

Hi Ehhh,

It has some very thin, what appears to be teflon, washers. And I don't recommend removing the blade unless you do a complete disassembly. It's very tricky to reassemble otherwise. And while it does come with a nice little zipper pouch, I highly recommend storing this beast in your pocket.

Thanks for the info! I certainly will be storing it in my pocket or in waistband when it gets here. Hope the wait isn't too long...
