Hi everyone.
Isnt knife collecting just insane...or is it that knife collecting is FOR the insane....I think it goes hand in hand.
I have just picked up a few knives of a very cool Blade Forum member here, and I just couldn't be happier with my purchase!
I just LOVE Vintage knives so much, and please guys and gals...these arent Mint Old Robesons with awesome bone...but they most certainly hold their own when it comes to being extremely well made, fit and finish is just superb... there are Celluloid or delrin-but so what?...if a knife is neat-then its neat - AND they are WAY COOL!
I get as much delight handling - or being lucky enough to own these knives as much as any other knife.
The information of era was passed onto me by the seller- so if you feel you can add-please do so :) I have great faith in the seller and trust what he says.
Anyway... how is this for a cool Vintage Camillus knife....man I just think this thing ROCKS!!!!
Four line Stamped Camillus dated between 1941 to 1946, also has the Sword Brand stamping as well...

And this Camp knife -with the Western Stamp-could be Camillus..
This knife is one hang-of-a-knife!...lovely actioned knife, so well made-if this had nice Bone...people would be falling over themselves to get it-I think its a stunner.

Those are really nice Duncan! The handles on that first one look amazing -- wood, celluloid?

What is the closed length on the 18?

Hey Duncan, those are some great knives you have there, especially the round bolster jack!

I thought it a crying shame that Camillus was allowed to go out, seeing the historical significance of the company. In the course of WW2, nobody else came close as to the amount and varied pattern of knives made for the U.S. military. They bail out GM but let Camillus go under.

I was always impressed at how a Camillus made knife could take so much punishment and still go on being used. They made millions of TL-29's, and most of them came home with GI's like my Uncle Charlie. It was in his pocket when he wadded ashore at Normany, and started walking to Germany. He never babied his TL, and it soldiered on until I gave him a new one from our supply room about 1969. My Uncle Mike was in the Navy in WW2, and he was issued a Camillus stockman with a delrin handle that was formed to imitate stag. He came home with that knife and used it on the boat until well into the 80's and the blades were very much skinnier than they started like with. Being used on a water mans boat is no easy life, but it never broke. Camillus knives were some of the best working tools ever made, and you have a great little collection there!

Carl.

Just a covey of beauties!!, Duncan. That Yello-Jacket gets my heart beat going! That Streamline is just gorgeous! ....they all ROCK and minty too

Thanks for sharing Duncan! Camillius made some fine knives

Duncan very very nice! Now I have to post some of mine. Which are a lot less than what I had.:( You gotta just love Camillus knives. There is just something about them.

Hands down my favorite brand and the brand (and all the strange brands they produced) to search for when im treasure huntin! These are some beautiful examples too, especially the first one given that its the 4 line which means its pretty darn old...
Beautiful
Gene

Thank you guys, I have a few more Camillus knives tucked away, Invoices' knife looks pretty cool! Thank you for the information Carl and everybody!

Some great looking knives you have there. I'm especially taken aback by the Yellow-Jackets, I was gifted one (a trapper) by my grandparents when I was 10 or so. I carried that thing proudly, I feel like it was a staple from my childhood.

Here is a couple of rock solid working knives. Nothing fancy but they sure do work.

Sorry for the quality of pics. Droid phone on the fly:eek:

Invoice,

That yellow scale looks very Buckish...cept' the rivets are polished flat and the 718 stamped on the reverse tang. Camillus made a few slant bolsters, but only about the time they were making the Bucks. Am I seeing things right , no stamping on shield and none other than 718 on reverse of a tang. With your permission I will keep a photo for my Buck lineage record...
300Bucks

300 that yellow one is the size of a 307. I'll have to pull one out and get a comparison shot.

Really great looking knives. All of them. I am especially drawn to Duncan's jack. I really like the blade combination and lines of that knife.

In the spirit of contributing something related, here is a Camillus trapper made for Buck. Model 329 always with yellow scales. Not found in Bucks catalogs, made only for sale by SMKWs. All of Bucks trapper versions ,know matter who made them, have straight edge bolsters. Most other Buck slippies have slanted..... 300Bucks
