I'd lose about 2 knives, and add some cordage, a whistle, maybe a signal mirror..a poncho or space blanket, some prepped tinder and anothe ignition source, and some way to purify and carry water

a multitude of knives won't help you if get wet and freeze to death or cannot signal for help, just my 2 cents fwiw

I'd also add some alternate ways of making fire. A poncho/space blanket is a good addition as well (as RR already stated)

I would also change your "somtimes carry" to "Always carry" with the exception of the monocular.

Basically what the other have said but i see no reason to drop the number of knives you carry. I tend to carry multiple blades with me in the woods.

Ponchos are amazing and often overlooked peices of equipment i carry one with me everywhere (not just the woods)

Lose the swisschamp and go with a lighter SAK,one with a saw or scizzors. I always carry a swisstool Spirit and an Explorer,so between the two of them,I have every good SAK tool. Saw Scizz,Magnifying glass, yadyadyada

best do more research on what-to-pack...everyone is different, but i suspect you can make better choices in many areas...and i agree with another; you're overkill on knives...are you hiking/camping, or out on a survival/recon mission...

Haha, well with the knives. The fixed is a pain to get in and out so i carry the buck 110 as an easy to get to knife. Sometimes i'll stop in an area with a bud and make a shelter or something just to change up the activity, so i'll use the fixed. The SAK i carry for tweezers and other smaller tools and the swisstool i carry for the bigger implements. If you went to where i hike, you'd understand why. I also prefer the saw on the swisstool but like the SAK for the small pliers.

If I were in your shoes, I would consider changing my carry arrangement so my main fixed blade were kept at hand. In the event of an emergency, you want to immediately be able to get to your main knife and one of the reasons fixed blades are more popular is that you eliminate the need to open them. If you've got one hand injured or occupied, opening the 110 can be tricky and easy to drop. A fixed blade is ready to go once it clears the sheath.

I'm definitely not against the 110 in any way-it's a great knife in it's own right:cool: I just think since you've got a fixed blade handy...

I carry at least 2 blades daily, but I never use both of them. I usually go straight for the fixed blade. The folder is only for out in the public of people who will look at me like I am nuts if I pull out a fixed blade.

Add the poncho, as RR said. Very under-utilized piece of gear. Also add some water purification, and some cordage. Cordage is just a pain to get a lot of, and if you need it, you will have it rather than taking the time you may not have to make it.

You do have some redundant stuff there but if it makes you happy go for it. For a look at a backpacking gear list go here.

I did a series on my personal gear that I carried over 300 miles on the A.T. as well as countless other little weekend and 3+ day trips. I dont mean to say "this is what you should carry" but maybe you can get some ideas about what you might like to add or subtractthat could help you shake out what works best for you personaly. Mind, this is hiking stuff. Gear for bushwacking or hunting or outings of a different nature might see significant changes in gear.

Rescue Riley also has some excellent information about bushcraft kit on his youtube page, along with other cool vids about the outdoors.

my tin is a bit bigger than an altoids, I've got a buck seki ultralight double blade linerlock, 2 3/ 4 serrated and 2 3/4 plain edge..

it can be nearly duplicated by the byrd frn 'wings'.. it's discontinued by buck. fwiw.

my 'go to' field knife is variable, a D2 Rat 3, a 6" D2 Ek dagger, or a 4.5 inch homemade utility knife, spring steel & osage orange haft. I own enough knives that picking one out takes longer than finding something shaving sharp to pick from. I'm reprofiling a couple of Farmer small fixed blades for the heck of it, and either one of those may get some field use, I really like the feel of 'em. He seems to have a knack for bang/buck. Gotta love a guy like that.. ;)

Yeah, i have a lot to choose from but i narrowed it down to those knives. So what should i lose out of them? The victorinox's arent a good pair? I don't care about weight, just useability. Is my carry of the buck and JK unneeded?

Just for me, I am never without one of the good folding saws, either the Silky or the Laplander. I don't leave home without it.:D

Too many knives, unless you plan on just trying them out and playing with your toys, you will never use all that steel. Isn't all that uncomfortable on your belt?
Look into a small pack or something?

The jk tin knife is no issue, and no they arent uncomfortable. I like being prepared, thats y i came here lol never know what could arise when
im with friends. If its just me i take the swisschamp only.

To many knives? Is that possible?:D

I see your point, that would be a little much for me, The little tin knife is a handy little last ditch knife, I have that one too. I love the Swiss tool, in a pinch that would be all a guy would need.

Hiking I carry my RAT7, BM 720 and BM 710.

Light weight ounce counting is one thing, I also don't camp/hike alone, minimal weight/space for great tools. I might start carrying a folding saw as well.
