How's your CQC-13?

I've this crazy notion that I'm going to try out, and that's to only buy "one"
knife this year? :D
I don't think it will work worth a hoot but I'm up for trying. I'm looking at
the CQC-13 in Stone wash.
Anyone around these parts have the beast? If so how are you liking it? I
really like the clip point Bowie look so I think it'll be the one to get?
I'm an Emerson fan and have about 6 of them but nothing in Stonewash yet.
Thanks.

Sean

I love mine. It has a very ergonomic handle (no surprise there) but it locks into your hand extremely well. Blade is of a great, classic design. I've cut open everything from animals to ammo cans and its still going strong.

I handled one of these at a local store and I gotta say that it is one of the most comfortable knives I've ever held. I have a CQC 13 with a black blade on its way to me, my first Emerson. I think I did good.

Hey guys thanks for your input! Glad to hear there's happiness amongst the 13 owners.
I'm lucky enough to be able to play with a good number of brands before purchase so I'm
looking forward to checking out the cqc-13 and it's comfort.
The last time I went to purchase a Stonewash blade I got suckered in for an old satin
A-100 serialized below "100" so I missed out, now I'm ready.

I got the stonewashed cqc13. The tip may look weak but it's really very strong. The stonewashed finish is also nice-adds alittle 'bling' to the blade =D
The handle also gives a very good and comfortable grip!

Good luck on the "buying one" a year. I'm broke right and even I don't think I could go with that.

I'm a huge fan of stonewash finishes because scratches don't seem to show up like sore thumbs. I've handled the CQC13 in a store and I definitely like the way it holds in the hand. Very sturdy and comfortable.

As for the blade design, there is nothing wrong with it, just that I'm not a huge bowie tip fan. They do however have plenty functional uses and I'm sure the tip isn't as flimsy as it looks.

Either way, it's not a knife I would buy right off he bat if I was tight on cash, but if I had the extra money, I would definitely pick it up.

I'm debating between the cqc13 vs cqc16 right now. Both a bowie style blade. It appears the cqc16 offers the same benefits at a lower price.

I've got the CQC 13 now and I love it even more now that I've gotten a chance to use it. I say get it!

You aren't kidding about the handle. It's got the best ergonomics of all the Emersons I've held. Mine came razor sharp. I lopped a rolled up magazine in two with it effortlessly.

Alright ya bastards! I just ordered the knife (since I couldn't find the freakin CQC15 in stock anywhere). I better be wow'ed when it arrives!!!

Nah just kidding. I went back to my store and rehandled it, and after some consideration, I figured I should give the bowie blade a try. I really wanted it in stonewashed, but it was out of stock. Anyway, when I get it, I'll carry this in my left pocket for a while (since I like the wave feature, and it opens reversed grip in my hands on the left).

Still on the search for a CQC15 stonewashed.

Hey good on you guys, your thoughts and advice! I'm still looking at this one and
as mentioned above the CQC16, I also like that Bowie style of blade. I've got
my heart set on an Emerson, so we'll see when the shop opens back up whats
in stock? I have an A100, Commander, CQC7A/B, so I'd like to try a different style of
blade.

The 13 is one of the best Emersons IMO. Its not too big and not too small, just right. I have owned three of these at one time or another and they have all been extremely sharp and locked up very solid. The stonewash version, which is the one I have now, is easily the nicest one. Its actually two tone. The flats are stonewashed and the bevels are satin finished. And of course it has the swedge. Its a great knife.

Congrats! I'm loving my 13. Been my primary knife for the last 2 weeks and it'll stay there for a while.

I've got a CQC-13. It's just fine. I don't carry it, and it seldom comes out of the safe, but that's mainly because I shift back and forth between a Commander and a CQC-15 for carry, instead.

It's just another blade profile. In that respect, most of the Emerson line are about the same. I prefer the Commander recurve with a plain edge, to any other in the lineup. That said, there's nothing wrong with the CQC-13.

I've also got a CQC-16; to me they're really about the same; six of one, half-dozen the other. Not much difference. Both good knives, though I don't know that one ought to prefer one over the other.
