Howdy gents and vermin-

I brought this up in WSS and had a couple of electronic high-fives, so I thought I'd run it by you guys:

What are the odds of getting a blade with a handle shape/thickness of the RC5 or RC6, but with no choil, roughly a 4" blade, and 1/8" or 5/32" thickness? I think that would please a lot of folks who frequent the woods and don't care for choils or thinner handles.

Not that I don't already steer lots of people looking for outdoors blades to RAT Cutlery..

Would love to hear the likelihood of that coming to pass!

I think it'd be cool, like an RC-4 but without a choil and the RC-5/6 handle. Draw it up for the design a RAT thread.

Well there are two choil-less rats now - the Izula and the RC-5. The RC-3 and RC-4 would probably benefit sans choil. However, I really suspect this is a style thing. Five years ago, all the tacti-blades had big choils on them. Now the W&SS folks have transitioned into choil haters. Even Busse offers a few choil-less models like the SAR series.

I'll admit to liking the aesthetics of no-choil better than with choil. I'll also admit that when actually using my RC-3/4, the choil never really comes up as a using issue. I really think it is an aesthetic thing more than anything practical when it comes to knife use. Andy launched the complaint of the choil hanging up on stuff during deep penetration. I don't deep penetrate anything (no farm animal jokes please - I see the set up) nor do I really stab stuff very often. I actually often find myself using the choil with my index fingers. Others object this is not good. Screw 'em, it works fine for me :D
